Otherness of Pupils from Migrant Backgrounds as a Topic for Story-Based Teaching

This thesis examines the topic of teaching the theme of otherness of pupils from migrant backgrounds to younger school-aged children, specifically through narrative engagement utilizing the Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking methods. Within the framework of action research, reading lessons were designed and executed to explore various facets of the situations faced by pupils from migrant backgrounds. This educational intervention is meant to facilitate comprehension of these pupils' circumstances and foster the overall acceptance of them. An analysis of the outcomes for each lesson is presented, also the outcomes were evaluated in terms of pedagogical reflection. Moreover, two of them were evaluated by another teacher. Topic relevant literature for children was thoroughly examined and incorporated into the research findings. The reading lessons were based on the following four titles: Kiko and the Secret of the Paper Butterfly, Maja and Kim, The Arab of the Future and Eric. The following methods were employed: unstructured observation, thematic analysis, semi-structured interviews, and content analysis of the lesson outcomes. Death mediated to pupils through children's literature

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of death and its mediation to pupils of younger school age. The aim of the thesis is to find and introduce appropriate literature for younger school-age pupils and to offer ways of conveying a complicated topic through the literature to younger school-age pupils. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with the definition of death and the concepts related to it. It also defines the concept of the younger school age and describes the emotional development of the child at this age. The thesis also provide space for the definition of literature for the younger school age and for the characteristics of publishing houses concerned with publishing the books with the theme of death for children of younger school age. The theoretical part also introduces, through brief annotations, selected titles of literary works conveying the theme of death. At the end of the theoretical chapter of this thesis, the background of the RWCT program is described, the methods of this program are introduced, and the three-phase E-U-R learning model used in the preparation of the lessons of the practical part of the thesis is specified. The topic of this diploma thesis is the development of the character of vampire and its portrayal in literature for children and youth. The thesis focuses on the analysis of five literary works for children and youth written in German language, which portrays the character of a vampire as a main protagonist and its many changes and development. The analysed works are Der kleine Vampir by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg, Das Vamperl by Renate Welsch, Der Spinat Vampir by Gudrun Pausenwang, Pozor, přilétá Molly! by Dagmar H. Mueller a Drákula a já by Andreas Schlütera. The main aim of this thesis is to answer the question of the type of transformation has the character of vampire undergone in the literature for children and youth. Its main goal is not to fully cover all available works in the genre, but to choose the most representative ones which show the different features. The analysis of the change is based on the characteristic of the characters and its goal is to show us the development of the character in contrast to the traditional vampire character. Transformation of literary heroes from preschool children point of view

The submitted diploma thesis with title Trasformation of literary heroes from preschool children poin of view is devoted to the reading situation in families and mainly examines the transformations of popular literary hereos of preschool children. The diploma thesis is divided into two main sections - the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part deals with the preschool child and his development in variol components. The central chapter is reading líteracy and pre-literacy. There are also chapters on factours influencing reading and working with a book in kindergarten. The theoretical part concludes with the chapter Literary hero. The aim of the practical part was to find out who is the most popular literary hero in today's preschool children. The research survey consists of two parts - quantitative (questionnaire) and qualitative (interview with families) research. The following is an analysis of anonymous questionnaires. The results are processed in graphs with appropriate comentary. Furthermore we find analyzed interview with families containing questions about reading situation, the popularity of children's books and identifying with heroes from children's stories. Motive of death in kindergarten mediated through children's literature

This bachelor thesis will convey a research theme of death and its presence as a theme in the kindergarten and amongst its pedagogues and their explanations of it. The goal of this thesis is to map the death-related themes present in kindergarten and the way their presence manifests there. We also strive to create a list of appropriate and qualified literature for children to go along with it and which can be used to work with the idea of death in kindergarten. Using this we are going to create, realise and reflect three lessons containing death-related themes where we would use "work with a book" method in selected kindergarten. Theoretical part of this thesis will concentrate on the death-theme and ways in which children approach said theme - this will be done through characteristics of pre-school child and through their cognitive evolution towards the death-theme. Further on in the practical part of the thesis we will explain the term "reader's pre-literacy" through the work with a book method and read strategies used in kindergarten.
